Key Principles
Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam aspires to become the “Centre of Excellence” in the field of special education and community-based rehabilitation in Brunei Darussalam.
To achieve this, three key Principles are upheld:
First, advocacy of people with disabilities is needed to voice out their viewpoint and rights and to be heard particularly by the family and community. We have to work together to achieve the individuals with special needs.
Second, increased use of person-centred planning approaches will help to ensure that interventions are created with the person’s hopes and needs in mind.
Third, collaboration among different agencies is essential including areas such as physical rehabilitation treatment management and health, further education, vocational trainin, employment opportunities and social services.
