

A Charity Gala Night organized by PJC Virtuoso Musical School Brunei in partnership with Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam held on Saturday, 12th June 2010 at Indera Samudra Grand Hall, The Empire Hotel & Country Club, Jerudong. The main aim of the Charity Gala Night is to showcase the talent of the students in musical skill and to raise awareness of people with special needs thus promoting and encouraging charity work in the country. The musical performance showed high standard of musical entertainment. A total of $22,000 had been raised for Pusat Ehsan from the event. The Guest of Honor for the night was Her Royal Highness Pengiran Anak Puteri Hajah Masnah binti Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien. The event started with a welcome remarks from Mr. Peter Chin, Managing Director of PJC Virtuoso Musical School, Chairman of the Charity Gala Night followed by opening speech from Yang Mulia Dato Paduka Hj Mohd Alimin bin Hj Abd Wahab, Acting Chairman/Senior Trustee of Board of Trustees Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam.Her Royal Highness Pengiran Anak Puteri Hajah Masna was invited on stage to receive mock cheques from Peter Chin; Mary Chin, the director of AFC Bhd; and, Esther Chin, proprietress of Charles and Keith. Receiving the cheques from Her Royal Highness Pengiran Anak Puteri Hajah Masna, on behalf of the centre, was Dato Paduka Hj Alimin.

As the Health Services under the Ministry of Health pursue its effort in public education campaign towards patients with high risk for influenza to get vaccinated, Pusat Ehsan joined its effort to conduct vaccination for people with special needs at the centre. A total of forty eight individuals including the centre's allied health professionals were vaccinated on May 21. Pusat Ehsan acknowledges the imperativeness to offer anti-viral therapy for patient and children with underlying risk condition such as cerebral palsy, epilepsy, intellectual disability and other weakened immune system. Pusat Ehsan was also privilege to see the support from the Ministry of Health as it conducted the first and the only out clinic-base vaccination programme in the country. Coordinated and lead by Dr Ong Sok King with the group of accommodating nurses and paramedic personnel, the team upon receiving the consent and health declaration from the client, courteously answered any queries to clarify some misinformation before the clients received the vaccine. Dr Ong also pointed out as the Ministry is pursuing its campaign to H1N1 vaccination, it is also equally important to maintain and practice good hygiene at all time.
Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam is pleased to announce that it has received donation of $500 from Hj Mohammad Nasser Ismail, an internationally certified and licensed Neuro-Semantics and NLP trainer and a certified Meta-Coach. His earlier and current contributions to Pusat Ehsan reflect his continual support to the aspirations to programmes and activities of the Centre. Pusat Ehsan welcomes the initiatives of the public that will be delivering worthwhile services to the 'Special People' at the Centre.
Ms Esther Karpinski of Alliance Francaise de Brunei Darussalam organized a musical concert at Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam on Thursday, 8th April 2010 commencing at 10.30 am. The concert is in conjunction of the Francophonie Week which is celebrated from 5th April to 11th April 2010. The main purpose of the concert is to entertain the special needs kids at the centre with the performances of songs, dances and music of French flavor. The organizer hopes that the special children will enjoy themselves and socializing with the group. Among the well-known artist to perform at the concert is King Lhota who is purposely brought up here to celebrate the Francophonie week in Brunei Darussalam. More than 130 audiences consisting of special kids, teachers and staff gathered at the Multi-Purpose Hall to watch the concert.

Pusat Ehsan together with other organisations for special needs joined thousands of people at Brunei's historic landmark, Taman Sir Omar Ali Saiffudin, commemorating Brunei National Day.
In its 26th year with theme of Negaraku Brunei Darussalam, the special needs had the privilege to proudly displayed their patriotism during the parade ceremony. This also showed the warm support of Brunei to special needs community and the public recognition on their contribution and capabilities to the society.
More than 1000 children and adults living with a wide range of disabilities and special needs receive quality education, services, events, programmes and activities through network of schools (Unit pendidikan Khas), welfare and special needs schools- Pusat Bahagia and Non Goverment Organization like Pusat Ehsan and many others throughout the country. Many benefit from the support of both public and private sectors.
In conjunction to Brunei National Day Celebration, Pusat Ehsan will be holding its annual national colouring competiton in it compound on March 7.
